Just apples, that’s it! Aval’s ciders are produced from 100% fresh pressed apple juice, naturally fermented, the way it was intended to be: free of any added sugars or concentrates.
Quality Ferments’ newest import, Aval brings modern American innovation to traditional French production by packaging high quality Breton cider in beautifully designed cans. The eye-catching results are equal parts complex and crushable, while Aval’s commitment to natural and ethical production with a forward-thinking twist makes them a perfect accompaniment to our already vibrant roster.
Aval means Apple in Breton, the traditional language in Bretagne, an area that’s had more than 1,000 years experience in making cider and is regarded as one of the best cider regions in the world. Aval’s ciders pay homage to this heritage, sourcing only local apples and utilizing classic French fermentation techniques such as keeving.
PROUDLY CO-OP MADE
AVAL is exclusively produced by a cooperative that brings together over 335 producers with a commitment to fair equity, biodiversity and tradition.
The democratically elected board of directors, consisting solely of co-op members defines the purchase price of the apples, the remuneration of the producer-members and all strategic direction of the co-op.
All profit is redistributed or reinvested which ensures the future of all members, sustainably and responsibly.
