Aval means apple in Breton, the traditional language of Brittany, an area with more than 1000 years of experience making cider and widely considered the best cider region in the world. Just like Champagne and Cognac, Brittany cider is geographically protected.
Aval is produced from 100% fresh pressed apple juice, naturally fermented. No concentrate. No added sugar. Aval believes cider should taste like what it is made from. Apples.
It is co-op made. 335 producers, organised democratically, with all profit redistributed or reinvested back into the people who grow the apples. Packaging is cans and reusable kegs only.
The result is naturally low calorie, low carb, and genuinely better for you without trying to be a health product.
We stock three variants. Gold is bold and funky, the traditional cider of Brittany, built on bitter and bittersweet apples with subtle tannins. Rosé is crisp and refreshing, made with red fleshed Baya Marisa apples for a natural pink colour and a light sharp palate that works in a coupe glass or straight from the can. Blanc is bright and juicy, a modern take on a French classic, mostly sour apples, low tannins, easy drinking.
