Quality Ferments – importer of fine alcoholic beverages
OUR TEAM

Quality Ferments was founded in 2020 by Mike Pomranz, a food and beverage journalist interested in importing some of his favourite beverages from abroad into the United Kingdom.
In 2023, Joe Spriggs and Jonny Harrold joined him as partners in the newly-expanded company to help bring this vision of quality beverages to fruition
OUR FOUNDER
Mike Pomranz started his career as a beverage journalist in 2006, covering America’s then bourgeoning craft beer scene. In 2015, he began covering cider and quickly became one of the country’s top cider writers as well. His work has appeared in a range of publications from Food & Wine to Comedy Central, Time to Sports Illustrated.
In 2020, a press trip to Normandy, France, changed his life. At CidrExpo, he first tried Rheum, a sparkling Danish rhubarb wine from Cold Hand. He brought the product back to the UK, where friends and family fell in love with it too. Unable to purchase it in England, Mike began importing it himself — and thus a new journey was born…

Quality Ferments has expanded in the last couple of years and now works with four producers world wide. Cold Hand Winery from Denmark; Zapiain Cider from the Basque Country; Shacksbury Cider from the United States; and most recently Aval Cider – from Bretagne, France.
